Official UFO Study Released by Chilean Government
A series of photos of an alleged UFO was taken from a remote copper mine in Chile and was deemed “a genuine UFO” by the Chilean government. According to reports, the Chilean government signaled a full-blown investigation over the incident and just recently released the results of the analysis based on the images.
Heading the investigation is the office known as Committee for the Studies of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena or CEFAA located within the Chilean government’s Ministerial Department of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) under the jurisdiction of the Chilean Air Force. The CEFAA is mostly comprised of pilots and aviation personnel tasked to investigate unexplained aerial phenomenon in Chilean airspace.
According to reports, four mining technicians at the Collahuasi copper mine on the Andean Plateau saw a “strange, silvery disc-shaped aircraft” slowly approaching them before hovering in the sky overhead for more than an hour.
Witnesses described the phenomenon as “a flattened disc, of brilliant color, with a diameter of 5 to 10 meters [16 to 32 feet]. It performed ascending, descending and horizontal movements in short lengths, about 600 meters above the ground.” They managed to grab their camera and took a series of high quality photos of the aircraft. The area where the UFO sighting occurred in located 14,000 feet above sea level.
The strange object maintained an altitude of around 2,000 feet, changing positions a few times but kept itself within visual range throughout the incident. None of the witnesses released their names or wanted to be interviewed. The witnesses refused to talk to authorities about the incident but provided the pictures they have taken.
According to CEFAA it’s unlikely that the strange object was a drone because it lacked noise and moved in ways that no drone can maneuver. In addition, there was no drone activity scheduled in that region at the time of the sighting.
The CEFAA investigative team recovered the photos in question and after a thorough investigation, concluded that the object “is an object or phenomenon of great interest, and it can be qualified as a UFO.”
